STREET SCENES – EXPLORING LOS ANGELES BY NEIGHBORHOOD
This is a project I initiated when I moved to Los Angeles. I was intrigued by the distinct neighborhoods Los Angeles had to offer. I came up with a proposal, got it approved, and then assigned a different Los Angeles Times staff photographer to each location. I wanted input from the photographers since most of them knew the area better than I did, and that proved to be a great collaboration. This was a great project to edit; I got to explore Los Angeles through these images. The end result was a 12-week print run in the paper, a multimedia presentation online, and a show at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. Sometimes what to shoot is as easy as looking outside your front door. Need help figuring out what to shoot? Let’s talk. I can help you mold an already good idea or help you come up with one.
